30 Days of Gratitude - Guernsey (17/30)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 17

Today we are grateful for our stop in Guernsey during our British Isles cruise in the summer of 2008!

Guernsey is an island in the English Channel that belongs to the British Crown but isn't part of the United Kingdom.  It is small, quaint, and charming with gorgeous rugged coastlines.

During our tour, we drove along the coast and stopped to take some beautiful pictures along the dramatic scenery. The bright green hills, jutting rocks, and aquamarine water are reminiscent of Ireland, which might be why we loved Guernsey so much!

Our favorite stop on the island was the Little Chapel... it's the smallest functioning chapel in the world, holding around 8 people. It's covered in a mosaic of broken china, seashells, and pebbles, and it's the most amazing sight. The chapel is so small but so beautiful and unlike anywhere else we've been... a very special place. I feel peaceful just thinking about it!

Guernsey was our first stop on our British Isles cruise, after leaving from London, and it was perfectly picturesque and charming, a wonderful way to start our cruise. And today we are thankful for the memories we made there!
