30 Days of Gratitude - Day 9
Today I'm thankful for our trip to Sandals resort in St. Lucia in September 2007!
We spent 4 days lounging in the pool, relaxing on the beach, and enjoying delicious meals at the all-inclusive restaurants.
And I went snorkeling while Joshua went scuba diving for the first time! I was content staying on top of the water and admiring the fish from a distance, and Joshua absolutely loved getting to go underneath the water and being immersed with the fish.
The most important part of our St. Lucia trip is the reason why we went... we were celebrating the fact that I quit my job. I had been miserable at work, trapped at my desk all day, and completely unhappy with the work I was doing.
So at the end of the summer in 2007, I made the crazy decision to quit my job and we decided to move across the country to San Diego. And then we celebrated the start of our crazy new adventure by taking a trip to St. Lucia! I will never forget when my best friend said, "Kristy, you know, most people just go to Applebee's..." :)
But that's always been our way... to be crazy and adventurous, to challenge norms, and to really create the life that we want. And that act of quitting my secure government job and traveling as a way of celebration were two more steps in moving us along our journey to become digital nomads.
And today I am very grateful for that!
